On your Return Settings page, you’ll notice that all of the returns on Rivly are categorized into 3 different return types: returnable, returnless, or unreturnable. Returnable items are those that are mailed back to the seller and a refund is issued on receipt of the package by the postal carrier. This is the most common return type where sellers can get back the returned item and frequently choose to resell it. Returnless items are those that are NOT mailed back to the seller and the refund is still issued. Items that fall into this category are usually ones where mailing the item back doesn't make sense given the cost of the item, cost of shipping back, or an item that can obviously not be resold. In these cases, it makes sense to just let the customer keep the item rather than the seller paying for return shipping. The last type of return is an unreturnable item. These are items that the customer is NOT allowed to return or obtain a refund except in the case of being damaged or defective. Rivly has various categories designated as containing unreturnable items such as gift cards, grocery products, hazardous materials, some personal products, and others. If you see that your item is not classified as unreturnable but believe that it should be, please reach out to seller support for assistance.
In the top section here, for all returnable products you have a few settings. First, when the item is fulfilled by the seller, you can designate which address you’d like all returns sent to. Also, when the item is fulfilled by an integrated third-party logistics service, or 3PL, like Amazon, you can also set whether you would like those returns to go back to the warehouse address designated by your 3PL, or you can set a different address for all returns. A good example of this would be a complex product or one with many pieces, perhaps you’d like to examine the return yourself first before sending it to your 3PL to ship out to the next customer. The last setting here is to allow sellers to pre-set certain return reasons that they would like normally returnable products to become returnless refunds. Since we require all Rivly shoppers to provide an honest return reason in order to be approved to return the item, perhaps if the return reason stated the item was damaged or defective, and for those specific reasons, it is an item that will never be able to be resold again. In those cases, it may make sense for the shopper to just keep the item instead of the seller incurring a return shipping charge.
Now, for all items that you want to designate as returnless, that option is available on the product list page, where you can change an item’s return type from returnable to returnless or back again, and this can be done either individually or using the bulk action button.
Back on the return setting page in the last section, and as mentioned previously, products that are designated as unreturnable can apply to whole categories or just certain listings. Only Rivly seller support has the ability to set a product as unreturnable so if you feel that your product warrants this setting, please reach out to seller support for help.
